20 minSaint James's Road

Service Description

With our expertise on medications and how they can be used in treatment, and our specialist clinical knowledge, our friendly and informative pharmacist is able to prescribe you treatment for seven common conditions. Save time trying to book a doctors appointment, and either book and appointment or walk in to see us! Eligibility: The 7 conditions covered in this free service include: Sinusitis Earache in children Sore throat Infected insect bite Impetigo (a bacterial skin infection) Urinary Tract Infection in Women Shingles What to expect: When you come in you will be taken to the consultation room with our pharmacist, who will ask you some questions about your current symptoms and your overall health. They may ask to assess your symptoms (for example looking in your throat or in your ear) and will then determine the best course of treatment with you. Once you have discussed this together, your pharmacist will be able to prescribe and provide your treatment for you, and will notify your GP so that your medical record can be updated. Should the pharmacist feel that you would benefit from a follow-up appointment with your doctor, they may direct or encourage you to book an appointment with your GP and will provide them with information from your visit. For further information on the service, please watch the video linked in our Services page. Due to the nature and eligibility of this service being determined by the NHS, the pharmacist is only able to treat the seven conditions listed, however they are more than happy to provide general information or sign posting if your condition does not fall within these categories. Please be aware we are NOT able to deal with medical emergencies and in this case, you should call 999 immediately or go to your nearest A&E department. Please note that any medication prescribed may be subject to the regular NHS prescription charges if applicable. You can find out if you're eligible for free prescriptions from the "How to Guides" section of our website, or searching free prescriptions in the search bar.

Cancellation Policy

Please arrive 5 minutes before your scheduled appointment time to ensure enough time to complete any necessary forms before your appointment. If your appointment is online or via telephone, please ensure that we have the correct details to contact you. If you can no longer make your appointment, please cancel within 24 hours to avoid wasted sessions. Although many of our services are free, we do expect our customers to let us know when they can no longer make a slot. For services which require a deposit, please note that this is a non-refundable deposit but will be removed from the total amount remaining when you pay for the service in store or over the phone. Please also note that all services are subject to availability of medication from suppliers, and therefore we may upon occasion have to reschedule an appointment if the required medications are not in stock or available. Please note that ever endeavour will be made to avoid this as we are aware of the inconvenience this can cause. There may be times when our pharmacist may advise you a service is not suitable for you. Please note that this is due to clinical guidelines and is not at the pharmacist's discretion but will always be due to medical eligibility or NHS Criteria. Unfortunately, this criteria is not within our control and limitations for NHS funded services are subject to adherence to the eligibility set out by NHS England. All services will require you to complete a form upon arrival or prior to your appointment which will be stored securely in line with Information Governance guidelines. Please note that violence, aggression or threatening language towards our staff will not be tolerated. We are an NHS representative and are entitled to the same treatment as all other NHS staff and services. Abuse will not be tolerated.
